* Please use the Blog to stay in touch with me real time as well as keeping current on all developments of the company

Now that you know what the company is,
let’s talk about what we make . . .

Currently we offer 5 styles of tables and 2 Shadow Box Wall Units;
Our Four Tables are : The Live Edge Slice, The Sand Table Slice, The Sand Table Hollow and IronSides

These 4 tables were designed to blend across a wide variety of décor, and can be made to fit in with your existing furniture pieces.

The Newly developed Shadow Box Wall Unit is affectionately called : The Quarterdeck
The Quarterdeck has 2 design Styles, one style is for 8" Plaque emblems and the other is designed for a memorial flag display. This is the perfect Army, Navy Air force and Marine Corps Gift Item. So no matter which branch of service you served in, we can design a table for you.

All furniture can be custom made to you order
We use only full cut solid wood in the construction of our furniture, (no veneers).

* The choice of wood in all of my products are Black/Clario Walnut, Brazilian Lacewood, Dark Cherry/Birch, Maple, and Fumed Finished White Oak. This is a rich and elegant mix of woods and goes well in any environment. However, should you wish your item to be done in another type of wood, domestic or exotic, we will be more than happy to acquire the species you have in mind.

Our overall design package includes your branch of service emblem in the heart of the table represented by either a metal plaques or carved directly into the wood. Also included are your Division and Unit Emblems beveled into the wood, with lists of combat engagements, deployments, and special training. Should you wish to add your ribbons and medals, additional areas shall be set aside to accommodate the arrangement.

We have 2 categories of design:
The Campaign Layout and The Service Layout:

The Campaign Layout, for those who enlisted in the Military and were called upon to server in combat.
The Service Layout, for those of us who weren't in combat but showed up for roll call.

The Campaign Layout

At the top of the table are your Name, Rank, Campaign, and years of service.

At the heart of the table is your Military Branch emblem, this is flanked to the right by your division emblem and unit emblems. These emblems are routed into the wood as a show of permanency.

Below the division emblems and slightly to the right is a map of the country in which you served. This map is burned or laser carved into the wood to leave an indelible mark. Trust me, it will not fade ! Or be forgotten !
Between the map and the branch emblem is the list of military engagements you participated in, Like LZ X-Ray in Vietnam or Iwo Jima in WWII, I will put it on so it’s chronicled.

To the left of the Branch Emblem is your military training and base deployment list. Everywhere you’ve been and were uncomfortably unfortunate enough to rest your head. From Parris Island to Fort Benning no matter what the destination add it to the form and I will put it on.

The Service Layout

At the top of the table are your Name, Rank, and years of service.

At the heart of the table is your Military Branch emblem, this is flanked to the right by your division emblem and unit emblems. As in the Campaign Table these will be routed into the wood, with the names of the units burned into the designs above.

Below the Division emblems and to the right of the Service emblem is the list of Operational war games, Battle Field Mock ups and NATO Operations.

To the left of the Branch Emblem is your military training and base deployment list. Basic Training, MOS Schools, OSC. List the bases where you were deployed.

** Military Cuts is fully licensed by the Army, Navy, AirForce and Marine Corps.

The emblems for all tables are displayed via a Bronze plaque or carved into the wood. Currently the Bronze plaque is only available for the Sand Table Hollow and Ironsides. The Unit Emblems are available for the use in the Quarterdeck Shadowbox in an 8" version.

The Bronze Emblem will cost $478.00.
The HDU Emblem will cost $200.00.
The Unit Emblems will cost $250.00

All Emblems are handcrafted in the USA using American materials and labor. We do not manufacture the plaque emblems . . .

Ordering the Plaques from me will be cheaper as I will get a discount on multiple orders and in turn pass that discount onto you.

We also offer a more wallet friendly emblem if your budget is tight. This emblem is made of High Density Urethane (HDU) that comes in assorted types of simulated finishes. (Bronze or Silver/Nickel preferred) . . . . .

Emblem Carving

The Emblem carving is reserved for the solid wood slice designs IE the Sand Table Slice or the Live Edge Slice.

This carving is done via routing and is beveled 5/8 deep into the wood. The carving is perfectly done and preserved under layers of Lacquer. The Router templates for the emblem carvings were designed by me, so all of the detail is meticulously added.

If you choose the Live Edge or the Sand Table you will not be disappointed in your Branch Emblem I assure you!

The Live Edge Slice is our premier table, the “Flag Ship” of the company. The current standard size is 72”L x36”W x20”H, but can be created in any dimension you want. . . . This would look great as an Office desk !

When we say “live edge” we’re talking about a solid slice of wood with the natural edges still on the cut, only the bark is removed to reveal the awesome texture and grain beneath. This rustic style is truely unique when presented in this commemorative format, the Live Edge Slice is a one of a kind Military Gift Idea.

Price:

The cost of the Live Edge Slice, range from $2,250.00 to $10,000.00, depending on the size, thickness, quality, and species of wood. Once you place an order, let me know what your budget is like, I will try to fit you into the appropriate slice.

To get a better idea of wood cost and varience read more . . . HERE

This table is a solid wood slice as well, however we cut it square to give it less of an outdoor feel and more of a contemporary look. If you prefer we can leave the 2 sided live edge look intact, just let us know at the time of order.
The Standard size is 52”L x24”W x18”H

The Sand Table Slice falls into the same category as the Live Edge Slice in as far as each table will vary in style and shape. This table may require cutting to get it to 48” size or smaller. Live edge pieces rarely come “rectangular” in shapes at small sizes so larger pieces must be cut down.

Price:

The cost of the Sand Table Slice, range from $1,950.00 to $5,600.00, depending on size, thickness, quality and species. AS with the Live Edge Slice, once you place and order let me know what your budget is and I will try to fit you into the appropriate slice.

This Table is an off shoot of the Sand Table Slice. It’s made from solid wood boards, cut in quads, then assembled with a hollow center for the Plaque Emblem. The Standard size is 52”L x24”W x18”H

This table is made with a Black Walnut and Cherry, set off with a 12” Bronze Military Emblem centered, for a stunningly modern look. The sleak low profiling makes the table highly visable in the center of a room and is fantastic in a den setting. The Black Walnut really sets this piece apart, I dare you not to like this . . .

Price:

The cost of the Sand Table Hollow is $0,000.00, However if you custom alter the standard size offered, the price will change.

is the Best concept in my collection. I wanted to design a table that was rough and distintive, . . . suitable for any grunt. The only thought that came to me was: "Wrought Iron . . . I have to use iron in this design". So Ironsides was born.

All the iron is hand crafted, banged, molded, and fitted souly for this table design. The balance of Oak, Birch, and Maple are accented to the hilt with the dressing of rough wrought iron.

Ironsides measures 52"L x24"W x18H". It is made from Fumed White Oak or Fumed Cherry or Fumed Maple and Birch. The Order form will present you with choices, either one you choose will be an awesome configuration . . . .

Price:

The cost of Ironsides, range from $0,00.00 to $0,000.00, depending on the choice of wood mix you want. As always if you choose to alter the original size for something custom, the price will change as well.

is a piece I came up with after someone suggested I make something to fit a smaller living space. The Quarterdeck design parts from the traditional shadowbox concepts you can get everywhere else . . .

My original design called for a curved leading edge, however my glass maker suggested I come up with a straight edge do to the fact that the curved glass would add $800.00 to the final price of the piece.
Personally I think the curved glass sets this piece apart from all the other shadowboxes available Either way both styles are here so go withwhat you can afford.

The Quarterdeck comes in one size :48"L 'x9"W x14H" and is made from Fumed White Oak, Fumed Cherry.

Price:

The cost of the Quarterdeck is $0,000.00, However if you custom alter the standard size and wood species offered, the price will change.

As the term implies “custom order, custom made”, means just that. If you have a design . . . . something that you put down on paper, we will be more than happy to explore the construction process with you.
Who knows, you may even want that Bandolier of M60 rounds in your table top . . .whatever the idea. Just send me a sketch-up with some basic dimensions and we will refine the design layout.

Your commemorative table doesn't have to be what I pre-designed here, it can have a multitude of other additions. Your table could be a memorial piece, or a shadowbox table, in this case I can add space for a Flag to be inserted, chevrons, Kbars, or whatever you choose.  . .  send me an email and we'll sort it out.

*Note, I can’t supply the rounds but I can point you to a supplier.

Custom orders may take anywhere from 8 to 10 weeks to build do to the nature of wood working and my present back orders, however I can assure you it will be well worth the wait.

Once construction on your build begins you will be notified by email. For ordering and payment instructions please see the Order Info section.

How it works

You can use the order form on the Place an Order page.
I prefer talking to you one on one to get a better understanding of what want, however, if you are too busy and on the go, the order form is a perfect substitute.

Fill in the form entirely, the more information you give, the better your table will turn out. If you leave out any information on the form, That info will be missing from the table, so put in the time and don't forget anything.

The confirmation email from me will have all the data you submitted on the order form, so go over it carefully and make sure you didn't leave anything out. If you have ommitted any information, send it to me in an email using your ID number and I will add it in. The ID number you get from the conformation reciept is very important, it will identify you immediately.

** Note all payments are in full

Because all of our products are custom made there is a back order, ordering and product construction are not immediate. It could take 2 months before construction on your item begins.

When you place your order on the ordering form you will be directed to a receipt page saying the order has been received and is being processed.
Once construction on your commemorative item is ready to begin, an email confirming your order with billing info will be sent to you containing a link to a payment page.
Once your payment has been received and processed, construction on your item will begin.

Normal construction time is 6 to 10 weeks on average depending on back orders and individual table content. My manufacturing output is 10 tables per month. Information about each tables construction process will be available from the Military Cuts Blog.

From the Blog you can follow your tables process using your order ID Number, you can also post inquiries and other information to stay informed.

Due to licensing obligations and Branding issues for the individual unit logos,
The United States Army has requested that I ask Separated and Retired personel to send me a Photocopy of their DD214's, to insure these tables aren't going to just anybody.

Please . . . . remove your Social Insurance Numbers from the photocopy as this info I do not need to know.

Our Policy on returns is that once glue up has begun, there is no going back . . .
You own the table !! The Glass and the Plaque can be sent back, but you own the wood.

Cancellations on the Live Edge and Sandtable Slices are non existant, Once I start the engraving process, You own the Slab.

If you cancel before the glue up, the bulk of the table may be salvaged and you will only be charged for the engraving plus shipping, and work done.
All engraved items will be sent to you .

If you cancel on a custon design build, you will be charge for all work up until the point of cancellation, Unsalvageable wood, plus wood shipping. The wood is yours . . .

There is plenty of time to cancel before the cutting begins, use it wisely . . .

Shipping:

We ship via UPS and Purolator.
Shipping charges can not be calculated on the order form as wood weight and table size factor into the price. Only when the order is received and we know exactly what we are building for you can shipping charges be applied. Shipping charges will be sent in the confirmation email so you will know your final total.

F.O.B. --this is a term that means "freight on board". It means that you accept all liability for loss after we ship an item IF you write directions for UPS to leave a box in the appropriate spot on the internet order form. Orders without such instructions will be guaranteed to be received at your shipping address.

My name is Ralph Curtis; Military Cuts is my company which was started in 2010. The concept for the Shadowbox Table/ Military Commemorative Table started when I got out of the Marine Corps in the 1980’s.

The original idea was to build a coffee table for my man cave with a Bandelier of M60 rounds set in the center covered by a plain of glass. Needless to say that the bullets were a bit extreme for 80’s and a bit harder to get passed the guards at the front gate, so the concept of my table sat for the next 30 years.

In 2010 after the passing of my Father, I wanted to build a shadowbox for his WWII ribbons and medals. My father had introduced me to the art of woodworking early on, so I thought it was fitting that I do something special using wood in honor of him. When I finished his Shadowbox, the idea of my “coffee table” reemerged and construction began almost immediately. After building a few more pieces for some old Corps buddies of mine, it was suggested that I build these unique items for other military folk, so Military Cuts was born.

I was born in New York City in the early 60’s the youngest of 5, my dad a WWII vet,
(Army 3rd Engineers), sent his 2 oldest boys off to Vietnam, the military was part of my family. As the youngest child, my Father introduced me to his passion of wood working and I took to it. Mr. Earl (my dad) owned a small company called E&L Fibers, were he built custom wood paneling for living rooms.

I as the dutiful son helped and learned as much as I could until the late 70’s when I broke from the family tradition and joined the Marines Corps instead of the U.S. Army . . . OooRahh!

My family moved from New York to Cape Cod Mass and in the Early 80’s and after the Corps I followed them to a small town outside of Falmouth. I began working with my father again doing carpentry and home construction. Over the years we built everything from finished basements to double beds to 3 quarter wrap around patio decks for homes on Cape Cod.

In the mid 90’s I met a young woman from Montreal Canada, we dated for a few years, a whole lot of traveling back and forth, finally getting married in 2002.

We (she) decided that living in Montreal would be a good idea as the closeness of her family was very important to her, and for me, well being 6 hours from my home was an acceptable choice.

I am still a US citizen, I still vote and pay my taxes in the U.S., but Montreal is where I am raising my family.
